Description
Mertensia virginica is a perennial which grows 1-2′ tall and has beautiful trumpet-shaped, blue flowers which bloom in early spring. Since the foliage dies to the ground by mid-summer they work best with other perennials such as hostas and ferns which expand as the season progresses or with annuals. This plant happily self seeds creating large drifts of color in spring.
