Description

An aromatic shrub or small tree native to central and eastern parts of the United States, prickly ash is a shrub that grows best in average, medium, well-drained soils but also tolerates poor soils.

Commonly called “toothache tree”, Native Americans chewed the bark or fruits, which produced a numbing effect, for relief from toothache pain.
